Once upon a time....
On a cold January day in 2017, someone is knocking on the door of Nordfyns Højskole. Chinese Associate Professor Dong Ruixiang has traveled thousands of miles to fulfill his dream — he wants to make the world a better place for Chinese children now and in the future. Principal Mogens Godballe invites Dong Ruixiang inside and he listens to his guest.
Dong Ruixiang has a plan. In brief, he wants to establish 1000 kindergartens in China based on Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tales and Danish pedagogy. The first step is to educate Chinese teachers.
AIKC-courses
[H.C. Andersen International Kindergarten College] The result of the meeting may briefly be described as follows: In 2017 - 2019 a large number of Chinese educators, and kindergarten teachers have participated in continuing education of 2-3 weeks’ or 12 weeks’ duration. They have heard, seen, experienced in their own body what happens when focus is put on playful learning and takes place on the children’s own terms.
The first years, the project was supported by the Chinese fund, the Laoniu Fund.
The Learn for Life umbrella
In the course of 2019, the need arose also for courses for parents and grandparents as well as study tours on cultural tourism. Based on this, we established the association LEARN FOR LIFE, which develops learning and cultural activities in close cooperation with Nordfyns Højskole.
