Inspire-Share-Learn (ISL) – a cultural exchange project for Danish and Chinese pupils.
March 2023
Danish and Chinese grade 1 and 2 school students meet online in small groups and communicate about topics that interest them across cultural and language differences.
"Who do you like better? Messi or Ronaldo?" That was one of the questions from a student in 1st grade at Korup School when the zoom connection to Tianfu School in Chengdu was established. Inquisitiveness was great, and Korup Skole's young students were ready with a lot of questions. "How many hours per day do you go to school, what is your hobby, do you have siblings" and many more questions were asked.
Two courses
Our good collaboration with Korup Skole has meant that Learn For Life has been able to arrange two ISL courses for the 7th grade (autumn 2022) and, at the latest, the two 1st grades. In 1st grade, they were so exited and well prepared with a large number of questions. The class teachers have also made a great effort to talk about China, and the children have even learned to sing Happy Birthday in Chinese. The student’s online meetings took place in April and are to be followed by a teacher-to-teacher online-meeting, and after the summer holidays video greetings will be exchanged among both countries.
Learn For Life developed the Inspire-Share-Learn project during the corona period, where it only etas possible to meet online. The plan is that we in the future will combine online meetings with return visits to the two countries. In China, both teachers and students are ready to come to Denmark.
