Fairy-Tale Play Communities: Sing and Play with the Nightingale
We welcome kindergarten children and their educators into the Emperor’s magical garden and invite them to explore three play stations that open the door to Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Nightingale.
At the Emperor’s Court – The Search for Happiness
At the first station, the children meet the Emperor himself. He sits on his throne surrounded by cardboard boxes from “JAPAZON”, constantly looking at his mobile phone. But the Emperor is no longer truly happy – he misses his nightingale. Through singing, flute music and imagination, the children help the Emperor rediscover his happiness. Together, everyone sings a good-morning song and brings the garden to life.
The Nightingale’s Heart – What Makes Us Happy Inside
At the second station, the children sit on the floor around a large artificial nightingale. Through gentle storytelling and simple breathing exercises, we explore feelings and talk about the things that make us happy inside. The children draw something that makes them happy on small hearts and place them, one by one, inside the nightingale’s body. As a thank-you, each child receives a little bird to take home – a bird with a special ability chosen by the child.
Into the Fairy Tale – Where the Nightingale Sings
At the third station, the children step into the world of the fairy tale. Through live music, singing, movement and drama games, the Emperor’s cavalier guides them through the story.
Through the songs The Emperor’s Court and In Search of the Nightingale, the children experience the difference between what is real and what is artificial – and discover why the song of the real nightingale is so precious.
