William Yip is back with his theater children
April 2023
I has been 3 years with corona, 3 years with shutdown. Now William is back, and in August he and a lot of children will take the journey from China to Odense and Funen to perform their interpretations of H.C. Andersen's fairy tales at the fairytale castle in the Eventyrhave (The Fairytale Garden) in Odense.
Hongkong-based theater director William Yip is a busy man who travels China and around the world to get inspiration for his performances and teaching in schools with drama as a focal point.
A big H.C.Andersen fan
Denmark is one of Yip’s favorite destinations – not least because of H.C. Andersen and Danish children's theatre. The annual theater festival APRIL, taking place in Djursland on 21-23 April, was thus the goal of his trip this time, just like H.C. Andersen Festivals and the new H.C. Andersen House was also in focus. Hopefully much more will come out of his visit, but that we will talk about later....
William Yip is a recognized Chinese theater director who has visited Odense and Funen several times and, among other things, also attended a two-week course at Nordfyn Folk High School in 2018.
