Last online seminar before the Christmas holidays 2023
'Play and the child's perspective' was the title of the last online seminar in 2023, held on 13 December. Mogens Godballe and Ann Guo Skov facilitated the two-hour course, where the participants from Sujie Kindergarten in Nanjing gained background knowledge and practical examples of the Danish approach to children and play on the premises of play.
Pedagogues and parents especially inquire about how to do things in practice.
"Dialogue and interaction between us and the participants are incredibly important," says Ann Guo Skov. "Chinese teachers and parents are used to gaining knowledge by listening and reading, whereas the ability to practice and reflect on their own practice is lacking,". As a Chinese living in Denmark for many years, Ann Guo Skov knows the situation and conditions in both countries. ”China is developing extremely fast. Many parents are confused and have lost the fundamental ability to be present with their children, in the pursuit of progress and success. Both educators and parents are looking for changes that can benefit the children, but do not know how to make the change. Academic approach is one thing, but how to carry it out in practice is something else. There is a need to pay more attention to the whole person.”
In autumn 2023, the manager of Suijie Kindergarten visited Odense, and he saw great opportunities in the development of educational guidelines based on a combination of H.C. Andersen's fairy tales, Danish pedagogy and high school tradition.
Already, he makes a great effort to involve and further train parents, who he believes should be the most important role models for the children – not just in theory but also in practice.
